Description

Virtual 3D reconstruction of a set of books, of different sizes and various colors on their covers, where they have already abandoned the more handwritten tradition. Until the second half of the 16th century, books did not depart from the characteristics of the “incunable” printing. This term refers to the time when books were “in their cradle,” at the beginning of the modern technique of making books through printing. Therefore, we recognize as incunables the books that were printed between 1440 with the invention of the printing press and the year 1500. Gradually, except for the initials, the aesthetic patterns distanced themselves from the manuscript tradition until they reached the final finish and appearance of the modern humanist book, with the widespread use of covers and dust jackets, with small “logos” that would serve as emblems of the publishers. Even specific workshops for the binding of these books emerged, offering various techniques and qualities such as leatherwork, embossed binding, etc.
