Description

This set of tables and stools is based on paintings found in various villas in Pompeii and Herculaneum.

It consists of wooden and metal tables with marble tops and lion’s paw feet. The stools and benches were made of wood and in some cases the seats were made of leather.

The type of metal tables found in this set were characterised by four straight legs with a thin crosspiece between them, which served as a connection, and may have lion’s feet at the ends of each of the four; they also usually had a rectangular marble tabletop.

The bench is based on the Roman frescoes found in Pompeii, in the Villa of Boscoreale.
