Botijo from the 16th century, the original of which is now in the Botijo Museum in Argentona (Catalonia). MCA_321
These vessels, made of terracotta, were used for drinking and preserving fresh water. They were widely used in all historical periods and are still in use today. Their shapes have varied, but in general they have a spheroid shape with two holes, the mouth for filling, at the opposite end, the spout, used for drinking, and the handle that allowed them to be carried comfortably.
