Description

Virtual reconstruction of a Roman fishing boat inspired by the known wreck called Fiumicino 5 (Boetto, 2006). Regarding its typology, it could be a vivarium vessel if we follow Boetto, or it could be identified as a celox-type boat according to the models found in the Althiburus mosaic (Duval, 1949).

In the central part, there is a wooden container used for storing fresh fish in seawater.

This type of boat was probably used in Roman Mediterranean contexts prior to the 2nd century AD.
