Description

These pieces correspond to the objects that form part of the Roman kitchen tools. They are based on those found in the House of Vettii in Pompeii (Italy).

They usually consisted of an iron tripod or trivet, which was placed over the charcoal or wood embers, and on top of this the pots and/or pans, which contained the food to be cooked. The Romans also had portable cookers called Clibanius which kept the food warm until it reached the table.

This collection also includes bowls and bowls, as well as some tools for serving food, such as ladles and skimmers. This collection also includes a grill or catricula for roasting over the coals.
