Virtual recreation of a statuette of the god Mercury made in bronze and silver, 13 cm high. This small statuette is based on the god Mercury from a Boscoreale lararium. Currently in the Walters Museum, Baltimore, USA, as well as other references located in the Museum of Albacete or Lorca.
The god is represented with a winged cap and staff, holding a bag in his right hand. He wears a silver ring around his neck. This figurine would have formed part of the gods protecting the home and would have been located in the lararium.
The lararium, or family shrine, provided a place for rituals associated with the veneration and appeasement of the household gods and other events related to the family ancestors. Houses and villas sometimes contained several lararia, located in different areas or rooms of the household.
